The hotel is perfectly located on Princes street, overlooking princes street gardens and very close to the castle, lots of restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Our room was one of the new ones so was modern and clean with a huge bathroom and a view of the castle. Breakfast was lovely and big portions which set us up nicely for the sightseeing! We would definitely stay here again and would recommend both the hotel and wonderful Edinburgh!

Historical building, good location, reasonable price
Elevator was out of order when chek-in. Because of the history, room is not so clean, windows are not open, floor makes noise.

Very good location in the heart of Edinburgh's main shopping street. Very clean bathroom.
The lift is tiny .... not good if you are claustrophobic! The bed had seen better days and wasn't too comfortable.

Have used this Hotel before. Great Location. Within walking distance fron the Train Station. Had a front facing room which overlooked Edinburgh Castle. Very friendly staff and an excellent choice of breakfast. Choice of snack and evening meals were also exellent and at a very reasonable price. Will be using this Hotel when we go back to Edinburgh in May

I liked the frienlly staff and great welcome. We arrived at 9.30am and were told we could check in as our room was ready then- this was great as we had left dublin at 6am and were tired and hungry. We had the great breakfast that kept us going for the day..
shower power could be improved but this little thing is so small as everthing else was so good.

The front desk willingly helped us with a 4:00 a.m. Checkout by booking a taxi, breakfast brought to our room and someone present at the front desk. Thx chef also sold me some jam from the kitchen at his cost. I wanted to take some home because it was made by a company bearing my maiden name. That was definitely above and beyond.

Colin, concierge was amazing. Immediately gave us a run-down of all to see and do. Rooms were beautifully cleaned and serviced. Breakfast was excellent. One the whole, olde world charm and perfection.
Bar needed music or tv perhaps. Too quiet.

fine stay but minor improvements needed
The classic double room with a castle view was amazing, offering an very nice sight that enhanced our entire experience. The champagne on arrival and turn down service with additional treats.
The building's charm was a little overshadowed by the noise from the street outside at night.

I am a member of the League and like to use the facilities as often as possible. I like the gentle ambience of both this and the London clubhouse.

The comfortable atmosphere made it easy for us to relax, and the breakfast spread, with fresh fruit and options made to order, was a perfect start to our day in Edinburgh. Plus, the view of the Castle from the common areas was fine.
My children wished there were more activities for kids on-site.

A very warm welcome - free upgrade, as a better room than I had booked was available. Excellent food and friendly staff. Even better if you are a member - more facilities available. So join - it is the best Club in Edinburgh!
